A Little Bit About Your Arts Council
Corry's
Arts Council was founded in 1971 as a non-profit <501(c)(3)>
organization dedicated to fostering the Arts and stimulating an
interest in artistic and cultural activities within the Corry area.
Working under the belief that by bringing exhibits, performances and
productions of artistic and cultural value to our city, Corry's
residents would not only be enriched, but also be drawn closer together
as a community.
Over the course of its long history, the Arts Council has rewarded the Corry area with such events as:
- Fusion of the Arts Extravaganza (Dance Theatre of Erie)
- The King and I (Erie Playhouse Company)
- Up With People
- ReCreation
- The Nutcracker (Empire State Ballet and the Buffalo City Ballet)
- The Navy, Marine, and Air Force Bands
- The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra
- Amahl and the Night Visitor (Erie Chamber Orchestra)
- Numerous performances by the Erie Philharmonic and Erie Junior Philharmonic
- Productions
by local favorites such as the Corry German Band, Ron Rairie's Forties
Plus Big Band, the Peak'n Mountain Boys and many others
- The Annual Sunday in the Park Arts and Craft Fair
- The Thursday in the Park summer evening programs
The
Council activities are run by an all volunteer Board of Directors and
the President of the Council's Auxiliary. Each Board member is elected
for a three year term of office. Executive Officers are elected from
the serving Board members to fill the positions of President, Vice
President, Treasurer, Secretary/Historian.
The
Council activities are governed by Bylaws which are reviewed annually
and approved by majority vote of the Patrons at large.
The
Council's commitment to the enrichment of the Corry community is
matched only by the generosity and support of its patrons. Please
consider supporting the Arts Council by becoming a Patron.
